4 Natural Remedies For A Toothache

If you have a toothache, there are multiple ways to treat it. You can use over-the-counter oral analgesic gels that can be placed directly onto the inflamed tooth. However, you can also use natural home remedies. Here are a few of them:

Salt and Pepper

Salt and pepper are not just used to season your favorite foods. They can also be paired to decrease the amount of discomfort associated with a toothache. To use salt and pepper to lessen your tooth pain, mix equal amounts of salt and pepper together then add enough water to form a paste.

After making the paste, simply apply it to the tooth. In some instances, you may feel the toothache decline immediately.

Cayenne Pepper

Although cayenne pepper is an extremely hot spice, it can be used to lessen tooth pain. Cayenne is actually quite anti-inflammatory. In addition, the spice incites a strong response from the nerves in your mouth once it is introduced. To use the cayenne pepper, simply rub a few grains of the spice onto the inflamed tooth.

Saltwater

A solution of warm salt water can also help stop your toothache. Salt, which is a natural disinfectant, can help kill the bacteria that may be causing a tooth infection. In addition, salt helps to shrink inflamed soft tissues. Thus, rinsing with salt water can encourage the toothache to diminish.

To make a saltwater solution, place a tablespoon of salt in a cup of warm water. Stir the solution to help the salt dissolve. Next, swish with the solution until the toothache starts to decline. You can do this repeatedly as often as needed. You can use ordinary table salt or sea salt to make your solution.

Black Tea

Tea can also help lessen your discomfort. The tea bag, which should be left intact, can be placed directly on the site of toothache. The bag will need to be left in place for a prolonged period. You can even leave it in in your  mouth overnight.

The tannic acid in the tea helps draw out the infected liquid that may be causing swelling and placing pressure on dental nerves. You may notice that the bag is coated by a slippery substance when you are ready to remove it.

If you have a toothache, you need to be seen by a dentist. Even if you're able to alleviate the pain for a period, it is important to address the source of the toothache. Schedule an appointment with a dentist in your area.
