Dental Veneers Can Help You Get The Teeth You Want

If you aren't happy with the way that your teeth look, there are a lot of things that you can try. One of the things that you can do is to talk to your dentist about veneers. What are veneers?

Dental Veneers

Veneers are a thin layer of material that can be adhered to another material. The veneer allows whatever the underlying material is to look like the veneer.

You commonly see veneers used in furniture. A thin layer of a premium wood is adhered to a piece of particle board or plywood. Then the piece of furniture looks like it's made out of the premium wood.

It's the exact same thing when it comes to your teeth. The veneer is made out of a thin layer of dental porcelain or resin and then placed on your teeth. If you are going to get veneers, what is the process?

Process

It will probably take two appointments for your dentist to place your veneers. At the first appointment, your dentist is going to do several things. The first thing they are going to do is to make sure that your teeth are nice and clean and that there aren't any cavities. You don't want to have any cavities or anything that could cause tooth decay to get trapped under the veneer.

Once they have cleaned your teeth, then the dentist will be able to get an accurate look at the color of your teeth. You don't want for your veneers to be a noticeably different color; otherwise, it's going to look like you have little, bright, white squares that don't match the rest of your teeth. Once the dentist has chosen the correct shade, they will then make a mold of your teeth so that the lab can make the properly shaped veneers so that they can be correctly fitted.

Then the dentist is going to put on some temporary veneers. They will rough up the enamel of your teeth just a little bit so that the adhesive will hold the veneers on. The adhesive that they use on the temporary veneers won't be as strong as the ones they will use on the permanent veneers because they will need to be removed before the permanent ones go on.

If you don't like the way that your teeth look, you may want to talk to your dentist about trying something like dental veneers.
